The Zambia Water Supply, Sanitation, and Drainage restricted  data package contains endline data collected by Mathematica, constructs created using endline data, and constructs created using baseline data collected by the CDC. The data package contains the following data components:

  • Connected households and delayed benefits study household data (restricted use): This component consists of 7,253 (4,742 baseline and 2,511 endline) households surveyed to understand the effects of the water infrastructure on household water consumption and sanitation behaviors. The component contains cleaned data from the 2022 endline study, as well as constructs created using the 2022 endline data and 2016 baseline data.
  • Drainage beneficiary study data (restricted use): This component consists of 4,159 (3,140 baseline and 1,019 endline) households located near the drainage infrastructure that were surveyed to understand the effects of the drainage infrastructure on household flooding and flooding-related outcomes. The component contains cleaned data from the 2022 endline study, as well as constructs created using the 2022 endline data and 2016 baseline data. This component also contains household-level constructs derived from publicly available datasets, including daily rainfall from the Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station data (CHIRPS), topographical values (i.e. slope, elevation) from a NASA Shuttle Radar Topography Mission digital elevation model (DEM), and distance from streams derived from the WWF HydroSHEDS dataset. Methods for deriving data from these sources are available in the endline evaluation report.
