The Morrocco Small-Scale Fisheries evaluation collected the following data for restricted access:
(1) Baseline Fisher Survey Data: These data were collected by the Morocco National Institute of Fisheries Research (INRH, Institut National de Recherche Halieutique) in collaboration with MCA-Morocco in 2010 to 2013 before project implementation. Data come from three distinct surveys:
o Site-level biannual survey: This survey was conducted between 1 and 5 times at each fishing site, with a total of 65 observations between May 2010 and January 2013. The survey collected data on the following topics: (a) the number of fishers and boats active at each site by month and season; (b) different types of gear used; and (c) which seasons are considered the high and low seasons.
o Boat-level quarterly survey: Data come from 1,355 surveys conducted at project sites with 931 different fishers, each interviewed 1 to 8 times. The survey asked about the fishers’ typical experience over the previous quarter, including the following topics: (a) number of days fished in each month in the past quarter; (b) typical catch volume and total value per day, by species and gear; (c) typical daily variable costs; (d) annual maintenance costs; and (e) capital expenses including the cost, lifespan, and year of purchase of fishing equipment.
o Boat-level monthly survey: Data come from 2,505 surveys conducted at project sites with 1,621 fishers, each interviewed 1 to 20 times. The survey asked about the fisher’s experience on the day data were collected, including the following topics: (a) details about the day's fishing trip (time spent fishing, location, depth); (b) catch volume; (c) total price of catch; (d) variable costs; (e) number of days of fishing effort that month.
(2) Endline Fisher Survey Data: These data were collected by Mathematica during August and September 2021, referencing activities in 2019. From an initial random sample of 1,993 fishers across all project sites, a total of 1,579 fishers completed the survey. The survey included the following topics: Costs, catch, sales and other fisher benefits.
