Ghana Power Compact - ECG Financial and Operational Turnaround (EFOT)
Summary:
MCC’s $316 million Ghana Power Compact (2016–2022) funded the $220 million Electicity Company of Ghana (ECG) Financial and Operational Turnaround Projec (EFOT) to improve the quality and reliability of electricity through reduced outages and cost-effective service delivery by ECG, reduce aggregate technical, commercial and collections losses, and ensure ECG can serve as a creditworthy and credible offtaker under power purchase agreements. The project supported a Private Sector Partnership and provided infrastructure investments and a number of activities focused on management systems. These activities supported the theory that introducing a private sector concessionaire and technical assistance would lead to improved management of the utility and improved power quality in Ghana.
