MCC’s $13.9 million Albania Threshold Program (2006-2008) and subsequent $15.7 million Program (2008-2011) funded assistance related to tax administration; public procurement; business registration and licensing; administrative courts; a national electronic registry for development and building permits; joint investigative units in prosecutors’ offices; and civil society monitoring of the government. These activities were designed to help reduce corruption, strengthen the rule of law, and improve economic freedom in Albania.
